Labour International Development Program (LIDP)
Welcome to the International projects and programs section of the Canadian Labour Congress. In this section you will find information on all the projects that the CLC manages across the globe. This is done through a cost-sharing programme supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
We work in partnership with national trade unions and labour servicing non-governmental organizations (NGOs). We are active in all four continents and you can find all the information on each program by visiting the country of interest on the map.
This program deals with important international labour issues such as gender inequity, weak labour protections, globalization, child labour, poverty, lack of social protection, job creation and overt workplace discrimination.
We actively promote the International Labour Organization's Decent Work Agenda (DWA) that basically hinges around creating a better workplace environment for all people by promoting things such as labour rights, social protection and skills development to name a few. You can learn more about the DWA on their website.
