Bolivia

The Union Training School provides seminars to the leaders of the Federation of Teachers Federacion de Maestros de Educacion Rural de Oruro (FDMERO)) to increase their capacity to influence economic and socio-political change. The project also aims to have a greater participation of teachers in the union, particularly women in decision-making circumstances and at all levels. The Canadian Labour Congress is working with the Frente Autentico de Trabajo (FAT) on this project and uses the labour side agreements of NAFTA, along with Canadian and American unions, to bring forward cases of labour rights violations and then searches for ways of strengthening the FAT’s international relations with the Steelworkers and other unions.… Read More
