Promoting Decent Work Agenda

October 2007 –September 2012

The International Labour Organization (ILO) created an 'agenda' to promote worldwide decent work for all.  Part of this agenda is what they refer to as the four pillars; productive employment, social protection, rights at work and social dialogue.

The Canadian labour Congress in conjunction with the Escuela National Sindical (ENS) in Colombia heads up this project that aims to increase the visibility and acceptance of trade unions, and promote a decent work agenda with special attention paid to the involvement of women and youth.

>

The project also features research on the state of decent work in Colombia, as well as workshops and training sessions for decent work advocates.

Already we see an increase in representation by women in the coordination of the campaign and it is apparent that the concept of 'Decent Work' is starting to spread and gain positive reaction. The Decent Work Agenda has specific chapters on gender and has numerous references to the special needs of women which is finalling being recognized here in Colombia.

The Canadian Labour Congress works with Escuela National Sindical (ENS) on this project.
