Integration of Women in Trade Unions
October 2008 - September 2012

From promoting women into decision-making positions within the union to creating more gender-equality policies, this project aims for an overall greater integration of women within the trade union movement in Jordan.

As a result of the training and education programs in place in Amman, we see women representatives from the banking and food sectors joining unions and participating in a number of study circles on collective bargaining.  The project has helped women by increasing their knowledge-base and understanding of the role of trade union committees, women’s rights in labour law, social security law and international agreements.

The Canadian Labour Congress works with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) office in Amman.
