Environmental Issues

The Canadian Labour Congress firmly believes that environment and jobs are inextricably linked together – that they are not an either/or choice.
We have seen the results of unhealthy workplaces for far too long – and the disastrous number of workers killed or injured each year from unsafe conditions, cancer and other deadly disease-causing substances like asbestos and devastating pollution of the communities where we live and work.
We also know that producing goods which harm our environment cannot be sustained in the long-term.
That’s why the Canadian Labour Congress and its affiliated unions have been working on environmental issues and promoting the creation of “green” jobs for decades.
