Green Jobs

We need a green recovery and I’m ready for green jobs!

Surrounded by the pressures of a global financial crisis, how we can afford to tackle climate change?

The better question is: How can we afford not to? At a time when the global economy is slowing down, we need growth, we need new jobs and we need the promise of prosperity.
Canada can create hundreds of thousands of jobs through investment into green job creation. Not only can we build an economy of good jobs, strong enough to lift people out of poverty, but we can invest in climate change solutions.

What is a 'Green Job'? Green collar jobs will grow our economy in a greener and more sustainable direction. In general a green job is any job that greens our economy. "

The solutions are simple yet multifaceted, we need to:

  • Increase energy efficiency, building retrofits and green building;
  • Invest in rail and mass transit infrastructure;
  • Reduce the distance between producer and consumer and encourage production of everything from green vehicles to windmill blades here in Canada; and
  • Develop renewable energy sources.

All of which should be tied to the procurement of Canadian equipment, development of new technologies in Canada and fair wage programs.

We can build a green economy strong enough to lift people out of poverty. Are you ready?
