CLC executive officers Barb Byers and Marie Clarke Walker welcomed 425 delegates and other visitors to day two of the Rise UP for Your Rights conference occurring in Ottawa between December 8-11.
The CLC officers introduced panelists who talked about what is happening to our rights in Canada under the current federal government, and more importantly, what we are doing in response.
Those panelists included Charles C. Smith, a lectuter in cultural theory and pluralism at the University of Toronto; Jessica Yee, executive director of the Native Youth Sexual Health Network; and Dr. Lucie Lamarche, a University of Ottawa law professor who specializes in international human rights, women’s rights, labour and social law.
