CLC President Ken Georgetti recently placed his support behind Sharan Burrow, president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) to head the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
In a letter to outgoing General Secretary Guy Ryder, Georgetti said he took “great pleasure in nominating Sister Sharan Burrow” as General Secretary at the upcoming ITUC World Congress in June.
If elected, Sharan Burrow would be the first woman to lead the ITUC, which represents 175 million workers in 155 countries worldwide.
